The new Aliens game was announced by Survios on July 14, 2022, in their own blog post. Chief Product Officer, TQ Jefferson, described the company's goal to build bigger and more ambitious games. This includes developing games using the best entertainment franchises across PC, console, and VR platforms.
Jefferson further stated that Aliens features a distinct and terrifying world in which its fans love to be entrenched. This makes it the perfect franchise for Survios' to show its expertise in creating immersive gaming experiences.
Luigi Priore, the Vice President of 20th Century Games, described the Alien franchise as a vast universe full of untold stories. This offers opportunities for video game companies to create gripping original games.
In collaboration with Survios, Priore further stated that they are thrilled to work with the game company. He describes them as a team who shares the same passion they have for the Alien franchise. With this new game, both companies hope to immerse fans into new worlds and experiences within the Alien franchise.
Survios is an LA-based game development studio that develops, produces, and publishes engaging experiences across popular licensed franchises.
The studio has a growing team of innovators, dreamers, storytellers, and talents to build gaming experiences for some of the most successful IPs. One of the company's goals is to expand its reach into console and PC game development. They also wish to be a pioneer in the new world of cross-reality gaming.
The game development studio isn't new to working on VR games based on well-known franchises. Survios have already developed immersive experiences for Creed, The Walking Dead, Puzzle Bobble, and Westworld. With years of experience working with VR games and experiences, it makes sense why 20th Century turned to Survios to bring the Alien franchise into VR.
Alien is an iconic science-fiction horror franchise from 20th Century Studios. The game follows the story of warrant officer Ellen Ripley and her battles with the extraterrestrial lifeform called “the Alien” or “Xenomorph.”
The franchise has released a total of eight films. Four films were part of the original series, released between the years 1979 to 1997. Prequel movies were later introduced, including the popular "Prometheus" movie in 2012 and "Alien: Covenant" in 2017.

The latest game released under the franchise is “Aliens: Fireteam Elite” in 2021. It is a multiplayer third-person shooter game from Cold Iron Studio. The game's story is a sequel to the Alien trilogy, which is set 23 years after the original films. It follows the journey of Colonial Marine on board the UAS Endeavor.
But one of the most popular games released was “Alien: Isolation” in 2014. It focuses on the story of engineer Amanda Ripley, the daughter of the Alien protagonist. In Alien: Isolation, she investigates the disappearance of her mother, who was aboard the space station called Sevastopol. However, Amanda soon discovers that the station has fallen into disarray because of an Alien creature.
These two games were released for PC and consoles, but none were remastered or recreated for VR. This means that Survios’ Alien will be the first VR game set in the Alien franchise.
